Here ya go rookie…
It's a long walk to the bullpen from the dugout at Citi Field....especially if you're carrying a pink backpack.
Is this some sort of hazing for rookie pitchers for the Diamondbacks?

Nerve Center
Well it must be stressful in the dugout (especially when behind 14-1), however the control room in the stadium must be just as crazy. Too bad radio controls aren't as pretty or as colorful looking. This is the control room at Citi Field in NY:

MLB.app
Love it, Love it, Love it. That's all I have to say about the MLB application available for iPhone and iPod Touch operating systems. As mentioned in a previous post, the Mets radio broadcasts are not readily available in the Syracuse market (at least, until the sun sets and then I can grab WFAN.)
As a replacement to catching baseball action on XM, which I canceled my subscription last year, I purchased the MLB app for 15 dollars. This allows me to view box scores, up to the minute game updates, and audio streaming of every game for the entire season. In most cases they have the home and away broadcasts. I love listening to baseball games, even if it isn't my home team. I have access to any and all games whenever they are played. Who knew this would be available on a cell-phone? It's amazing.
Having this app has made listening to baseball more accessible than XM. I can now cut the grass while listening to the game. I can be in the car and hear the game during the day! I can listen to a little bit of the game while I'm on my lunch break at work.
I give the MLB.app an A++

No love for the Mets in CNY
I came across this posting from my friend Peter who runs CNYradio.com:
ESPN Radio Syracuse Adds Red Sox ESPN Radio has a new affiliate in CNY, locally in Oswego on the FM dial at 100.1. In a bold move ownership of the local ESPN Radio affiliates decided to pull in the entire season of the Red Sox! So, on the radio dial around Central New York you have your choice of the Yankees (of course), The Syracuse Chiefs, and The Red Sox. There isn't any local affiliate for the Mets. The only way to hear the Mets is to wait until the sun sets and pull in WFAN directly from NYC.

Shelbyville Lemons
You've seen the ads, you've heard the buzz, and you find it all very silly. Yes, it's fantasy baseball. I'm giving it a try this season. A colleague of mine has created a league via ESPN for WRVO staff. I created my team tonight, The Shelbyville Lemons. The name comes from the arch rival city to Springfield (where the Simpsons live). Shelbville stole Springfield's lemon tree in season 6. Yes, that's right, I am a nerd too!

Yanks Vs Mets in Syracuse
The Mets will face the Yankees in Syracuse...well...sort of. This would be the AAA affiliate for the Mets, the Bisons facing the AAA affiliate for the Yankees. This has come to past because the stadium in Scranton has turned into a situation like Steelers had in Pittsburg during a football game this past season. There is terrible drainage in the outfield leaving the entire field unsafe to play on. So, by some miracle Syracuse gets to host these games on behalf of Scranton.
This is a matchup I had dreamed to see if Syracuse landed the Mets as their team, but somehow ended up with the Nationals. Meanwhile, the actual hometeam is on the road. Details on the Chiefs website...

Goodbye Shea
I had to make an unscheduled visit to Queens while on my way home to Oswego to pick up a few items I left at my brother's apartment earlier in the week. As I drove into Queens I saw the familiar look of Shea Stadium off the Whitestone Expressway. I got off the expressway to pause a take a few pictures. I figured this could be the last time I see the stadium before it is paved into a parking lot for Citi Field.
The sun shines through the stadium a little more as they have begun to tear out the concrete where seats used to be.
Just a few logos left on the stadium, most have been removed and sold off.
