Attempt at Gardening
The house we're renting has such a large backyard. A patch of it was used by the landlord as a garden. Last year tried two cherry tomato plants. Despite the efforts of deer and other creatures, we were able to get a few tomatoes from the plant. This year we've expanded ever so slightly with about 6 tomato plants, 4 summer squash plants, 1 pumpkin plant, and some assorted herbs. We'll see what happens. We planted everything earlier this week.

Tomatoes!
You may remember this post. So now they grow...here is our tangled web of grape tomato plants. They have grown a lot and have many tomatoes in the process of growing:
A closer look:
Whatever was constantly eating the plants has been distracted enough to let the plants flourish for awhile. Of course, this is just in time for a freeze. Oh well, next year.

Home grown stems…
Well, we almost had them. We almost successfully grew a number of cherry tomatoes. Earlier this season, Michele and I bought two cherry tomato plants. These two plants were the pride and joy of our lovely garden since we didnt have time to plant anything else this year. Several tomatoes grew, and just as they were starting to turn a nice reddish ting, something came along and ate them all. This left us with two pittiful looking green plants.
If we were to be more serious about our garden next year, it may be worth the investment in some fencing. We'll see what the budget allows. In the meantime, we still have a great farmer's market every Thursday that features many fresh veggies and fruits.
