Yet another use for the iPhone

The appleblog reports plans for an upcoming dock which offers gaming ability. You put the iPhone in the dock. When connected, the four controllers are used to allow multiplayer gamming.  The dock connects to a TV so all four players can easily view what they're playing.

Part of me thinks, "hey it's a stinkin' phone. I have a Nintendo Wii for gaming."  Then again the other part of me reminds me that I use my iPhone more for email, tweeting, and other things then for actual phone conversations.

Nerve Center

Well it must be stressful in the dugout (especially when behind 14-1), however the control room in the stadium must be just as crazy. Too bad radio controls aren't as pretty or as colorful looking. This is the control room at Citi Field in NY:

Fair Use and the Economy

A study shows "Fair Use Contributes Trillions to U.S. Economy."  I guess that is good news. Check out Wired.com for the details.

The Floppy Disk faces last format

Sony move confirms floppy disk's death...

...I didn't even realize people were still using floppy disks. I'm hard pressed to identify a usable file to transport from one computer to another that isn't larger than the capacity on a floppy. Oh, how I miss the days of grade school playing Oregon Trail and having to flip between 4 or 5 disks while I advance along the trail on a monochrome monitor. Okay, maybe not. I like my Mac with wireless file sharing.

You Will!

The future, as AT&T saw it in 1993:

I remember this ad campaign as was fascinated by it.  The thought of getting directions on a screen while driving, or paying a toll without having to stop and use cash, how is that possible? How could you possibly send a fax or conduct a meeting at a beach with a laptop and not have tons of cables? But here we are! Okay, so they missed the boat on a few things too. But, who knew that little thing called the cell phone would take off and you wouldn't need to go to a phone booth. So is the future of 1993?

Ironically, while we are in the future (?) or close to what this commercial imagined, which is about 20 years later (gasp!) AT&T no longer exists to be in this future time period. AT&T aka the American Telephone & Telegraph was bought up 5 years ago by what we know as at&t today. Weird huh? Wikipedia probably could do a better job explaining how that came to be.
